This project was started in Bonn in 2013 as part of an artist-in-residence stipend. The Installation consists of 2500 artificial flowers that are filled with sugar water and perfume. The artist lets these flower fields "grow" for short times at various locations, inviting comments and sparking emotional reactions from passers by and bees as well.
The starting point for this exhibition was the wish of being able to save a moment or feeling for eternity. The artificial rose as a symbol of love was created under the law of economy, as it is cheap and lasts forever. While it lasts forever, at the same time it is dead- an empty shell.
But what happens when this dead shell is brought to life? As the bees flock to it becomes a symbol for eroticism and sexual attractiveness, and brings up the issue of human beings being used as commodities.
The next flowerfield will grow at april 19th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Theater Brandenburg in the exhibition Kunstblumen.
Kanalstraße, 14776 Brandenburg an der Havel
